INTENSITY
TALK TEST. During exercise, you should be able to carry on a conversation. Even if you
have nothing to say, rarely make valid points and, in general, are a babbling idiot, you should
still be able to audibly convey that to others. If you are working out so hard that you cannot
speak, drop your intensity level a little.
ALWAYS DRINK PLENTY OF WATER
Even if you are NOT noticeably perspiring, you ARE STILL losing water that you must
replace for your body to function efficiently. If you ARE noticeably sweating, let's hope
your wearing deodorant. It is suggested that after every 15 minutes or so of activity, you
should have some water or fluids. Caffeinated beverages will dehydrate you, so don't count
those drinks. Nor does alcohol count. Finishing off a six pack is not preparing you for your
workout. That might make some reality TV tolerable, but ...well...no...only a coma could do
that.
INJURIES
REMEMBER RICE If you should get injured, these things will help to decrease the swelling
and soreness:
Rest **Take a few days off after an injury to let your body heal. If the injury is serious,
consult a physician immediately.
Ice **Place a bag of ice in a towel and place it on the injured area for 15 -20 minutes.
Compression **Wrap the injured area in a bandage with a light amount of compression.
Elevation** Keep the injured area elevated.
